UNDIP Wins 2nd Best National Rank as a Sustainable Campus by UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2020

As a PTNBH university in Indonesia, Diponegoro University supports a series of sustainable development goals (Sustainable Development Goals). Diponegoro University has consistently taken a role in the framework and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are global development agreements to achieve sustainable development.
All Undip’s efforts have crawled it by getting the second-best ranking in the 2020 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Awards as the 2nd Most Sustainable University in Indonesia. In international rankings, Undip has been ranked 39 globally out of the 912 universities and 84 countries included in the ranking.
UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Awards 2020 is a ranking that honors and appreciates universities based on the university’s commitment and actions towards greening and environmental sustainability by implementing environmentally friendly and sustainable policies and programs.
Upholding the theme “University Responsibility for Sustainable Development Goals and Complex World Challenges”, organized by the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings Awards 2020 held online on December 7, 2020, by inviting environmental experts and representatives from universities. Focused on the goal of “Green Campus and University Sustainability”, this ranking system is expected to raise awareness of all parties in the platform to pay more attention to global climate change, energy and air conservation, waste recycling, and green transportation.
This achievement is an application as compensation for Undip to improve its efforts in building a green, environmentally friendly, and sustainable campus. Undip Rector, Prof. Dr. Yos Johan Utama, SH., M.Hum. express his gratitude to all Undip academics who have implemented the Sustainable Campus program with environmentally friendly and sustainable activities. “Undip also seeks to expand green open areas in the form of building parks and campus forests, energy efficiency, environmentally friendly energy use, air conservation, green transportation, and campus development with the concept of a green and smart building,” he said.
“In the future, Undip hopes to be able to contribute more to preserve and natural resources that have a good impact on our beloved Earth,” he concluded.
